28 November 2017 – Stress as an Ally? Yes, it’s possible! That’s what the Leaders and Trainers learned during the Stress Transformation for Executive Performance and Ultimate Productivity (S.T.E.P. U.P.) Workshop last 28 November 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria, Ortigas Center, Quezon City.
Led by Dr. Marco Escareal, Wellness Inventory Coach and Chief Wellness Officer of Convergent Experience, this half-day program challenged the participants to change their mindset about stress, create resilient wellness behavior in response to challenging work situations, and commit to a stress transformation and resilience plan.
That sounds like a mouthful, but Dr. Marco brought those points home by structuring the program around interactive activities that helped the participants also reflect on where they are in their personal wellness journey. For example, each person was given a My Wellness Inventory Form to color out. The form is based on The Wellness Inventory, which conceptualizes wellness as composed of 12 (yes, 12!) different dimensions. Participants then consider how “well” they are in a certain dimension, and assign a numerical value to it, visually representing this value by coloring out the slice of the wheel. Having to imagine wellness in terms of 12 dimensions really makes one consider well-being from a holistic perspective.
After this activity, the participants were asked to pair off and share their insights with a partner, along with what they think they can do in order to improve on both their highest and lowest dimensions.
Other highlights include tried-and-tested practices to manage stress whenever and wherever one is, such as Diaphragmatic Breathing and Mindful Eating. The idea is that one can find a way to harness stress for success anytime, and not seek to get away from it by booking a vacation or putting work away.
But all these insights wouldn’t be useful without follow-through, so after the workshop participants also gained a 1-year access to the Wellness Inventory, a unique online whole-person assessment tool for motivating lifestyle change, to support them in sustaining their Wellness Plans.
